Fowlkes to Seek Re-election: Mountain View attorney Whit Fowlkes has announced he will seek the position of district judge in the May non-partisan judicial election.

Hart to Run For Arkansas Supreme Court: Court of Appeals Judge Jo Hart announced Monday her candidacy for the Arkansas Supreme Court. Judge Hart is currently serving her 14th year as an appellate judge on the Arkansas Court of Appeals.

 Legal Aid of Arkansas: Facing steep funding cuts, Legal Aid of Arkansas has reorganized its service delivery system and will close the currently office in Mountain View. However, impact to the public will be minimal, according to Legal Aid Executive Director Lee Richardson.

Mountain View City Council:The Mountain View City Council decided to purchase a new submersible water pump for the water intake system.

Fifty Six City Council: The Fifty Six City Council accepted the resignation of Recorder/Treasurer Johnetta Pogue at a special meeting Jan. 23. Pogue resigned in a letter dated Jan. 16 and did not specify a reason.

Stone County Leader subscribers now have the option of logging into this website and reading PDF versions of the newspaper pages. The pages will appear in the same format as they do in print. Opening PDF files requires the Acrobat Reader program. Those who do not have the program already may download it free of charge from www.adobe.com.  Please be sure you have version 7.0 or above to assure the pages display properly.

THE FIRST STEP – To view subscriber content for the first time, existing subscribers should click HERE and provide the information requested. Users will be asked to choose a user name and password. When the subscriber status is verified, the new account will be activated. On subsequent visits to the website, subscribers may log in with their chosen user name and password using the “Log In” link at the top right corner of the page.
